Dawson and Joey forever.
Following the death of her Dawson’s Creek co-star James Van Der Beek on February 11, Katie Holmes paid tribute to her late friend by reflecting on the time they spent together.
Katy’s handwritten note, shared to Instagram on February 12, read: “Thank you, James.” “Sharing your imagination and space is sacred; breathing the same air in a land that makes you believe, trusting that each other’s hearts are safe in expression. These are some of the memories, along with laughter, conversations about life, and songs by James Taylor, that are a unique youthful adventure.”
Katie went on to say that her co-stars always showed “compassion, courage, selflessness, and strength.”
“Appreciating life with the honesty that life is art, building a beautiful marriage, and raising six beloved children,” she added, “is a hero’s journey. I mourn this loss with the reality of his absence in my heart and with deep gratitude for his legacy.”
As Katie said, she wrote the note thinking “a few words with a heavy heart.”
“This is a lot to process,” she captioned the post. “We are so grateful to be a part of James’ journey. He is loved,” Katie said of his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, “Kimberly, we love you and will always be here for you and your beautiful children.”
Katie’s emotional message came after James’ family confirmed that he had passed away after a years-long battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer.
