Chyler Leigh remembers the time she spent with Eric Dane.
In fact, the Grey’s Anatomy actress, who played Eric’s love interest on the hit ABC show, opened up about working with Eric, who passed away on February 19th. He was 53 years old.
“The past 48 hours have been devastating,” Kyler said in a statement to E! news. “I never thought I’d use the words ‘had or were,’ but this is what happened. And I hate it.”
“Eric had a heart of gold,” she continued. “His humor, and especially his laugh, was contagious. He was an extremely intelligent man who could carry on philosophical conversations for hours on set. He was a wonderful father and loved his daughters passionately. He was incredibly passionate about his job and the causes he held close to his heart.”
The burlesque actor, who had children Billy, 15, and Georgia, 14, with his estranged wife Rebecca Gayheart, died about a year after disclosing his diagnosis of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), but Kyler emphasized how his legacy will live on.
“The universe is definitely embracing Eric right now,” she continued, “just as I will forever be in my heart.”
