Christina Applegate is sharing a painful part of her past.
In her upcoming memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, the Bad Moms star opens up about overcoming some of the most difficult moments in her childhood, including being sexually abused by her babysitter when she was five years old.
“I knew every part of it was wrong,” Christina told People magazine in an interview published on February 25. “I felt sick, scared and sad. I was never completely comfortable with being touched and that’s still true.”
“I’ve never felt comfortable with that in my entire life, really,” she added. “And all because that girl forced me to do something I barely understood but knew was embarrassing.”
In her memoir, released on March 3, Christina also details her mother’s struggle with heroin addiction and how the physical abuse she endured from one of her mother’s boyfriends affected her during her childhood.
“I think from 3 o’clock to 7 o’clock was the worst,” she said. “But in every home there was something similar going on: single mothers, men coming and going, drugs.”
