Celebrity stylist Molly Levin predicts that one of the biggest trends on the red carpet will be a big return to sophisticated ’90s elegance, with sleek silhouettes and neutral hues.
The stylist who styled Chelsea Handler’s outfit at the Critics’ Choice Awards said bold jewel tones were the same last year, with clean lines and muted colors dominating the 2026 red carpet on Sunday.
“People are going back to neutrals. There’s going to be more black. There’s going to be more cream. There’s going to be white, there’s going to be shades of navy, there’s going to be less jewel tones and more neutrals,” she told E!
Levin explained that this is due to a larger trend in the 1990s. “I definitely think a lot of people are bringing in vintage items, but they’re really bringing in vintage items from decades past that don’t have bright colors or jewel tones and don’t have a lot of beading,” she explained.
“It’s going to be very narrowed down and about fit and fabric. We always see a lot of strapless, but I think that goes without saying. And I think we’re going to see a lot of ’90s-inspired spaghetti straps and square necks as well.”
