Since first reporting last week, Berkshire reported that it had sold the remaining shares. byd Earlier this year, the Chinese electric car manufacturer confirmed the news and thanked Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger for their trust in the company.
In a post on Chinese social media site Weibo, BYD spokesman Li Yunfei wrote that Google translated it.
“In August 2022, Berkshire began gradually reducing its holdings of shares in the company it purchased in 2008. By June last year, its shares had fallen below 5%… Investing in stock involves both buying and selling. This is completely normal.

Stella Li, executive vice president of BYD, appearing on CNBC Europe’s Access Middle East this week, repeated the Weibo Post saying that Buffett and Munger “loved” BYD and its management team, “Naturally, buying and selling isn’t their business because they are investors.
Reuters quoted Alfredo Altavira’s special advisor, saying Buffett “profited 20 times the capital he invested. He did very well to do what he did.”
“We were very pleased that we had Buffett (as an investor), but the fact that he monetized his position (spelled in the UK) is exactly what Berkshire Hathaway makes a living.
However, investors around the world did not accept it.
BYD shares fell more than 6% in Hong Kong this week.
10% of the second Japan stakes
Berkshire has closed its Chinese investments, but continues to expand its holdings in Japanese “trading house” stocks.
this week, Mitsui In a news release, Berkshire said they were “notified” that “they currently hold more than 10% of Mitsui’s voting rights as a result of their additional acquisition of our shares.”
However, they did not know the exact number of shares Berkshire currently owned.
In a disclosure on March 17, Berkshire reportedly owns 9.8% of 285,401,400 shares. They will be valued at around $7.3 billion at the end of today.
Later last month, Mitsui officials said Reuters Berkshire had raised its shares but refused to give it a percentage.
at the same time, Mitsubishi In a regulatory filing, Berkshire’s shares rose from 9.7% to 10.2%.
I have not heard anything about Berkshire’s other three Japanese possessions. Itochu, Marveniand Sumitomobut it’s not surprising to know that these bets are above 10%.
