boeing delivered 55 aircraft to customers last month and is on track for its best year since 2018 as production stabilizes and company executives focus on increasing production rates for its 737 Max dollar-box aircraft.
Boeing announced Tuesday that 40 of the planes it delivered were 737 MAXs, with customers including low-cost European carrier Ryanair delivering 10 of the planes. southwest airlines, united airlinesChina Southern and Leasing Company air cap.
In the first nine months of 2025, Boeing delivered 440 aircraft, compared to 568 during the same period in 2018, but two fatal 737 MAX crashes within five months later threw the company into turmoil.
Rival Airbus has reported 507 customer deliveries so far this year.
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said last month that he expected production of the 737 Max to reach 42 planes a month by the end of the year, an increase from the Federal Aviation Administration’s cap of 38 planes a month after the plane’s door plug nearly ruptured in January 2024.
“I think we’re pretty aligned” on the approval process with the FAA, Ortberg said at a Morgan Stanley investor conference in September. “We need to stabilize this final metric, and we are certainly planning on producing 42 units per month by the end of the year.”
Boeing also reported on Tuesday net orders for 48 planes for September, or total sales of 96 planes before accounting for adjustments. This includes 64 787 Dreamliners, 50 Turkish Airlines aircraft, and 73,730 Norwegian Airlines aircraft.
