Ariana Grande releases details about parting ways with Cynthia Erivo after 5 years on ‘Wicked’
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are reaching the end of the yellow brick road.
The Wicked co-stars, who play Glinda and Elphaba in the film, respectively, attended the premiere of the musical sequel Wicked: For Good on November 17 in New York City. And while walking the event’s red carpet, the pair spoke candidly about the “immeasurable gratitude” they feel for finishing Wicked’s story.
“It’s been such an amazing journey and such an amazing experience creating with people that we not only love so much and respect creatively, but also have such great hearts,” Ariana We exclusively told E! news’ Justin SylvesterHe added that he is excited that fans will “finally get the full story” and “get the full story of the women we love so much and have been with for so many years.”
“I’ve been with them for almost five years now,” she continued. “So it’s very exciting for them to finally get the big picture and learn the secrets we’ve known all along.”
But Ariana said she and Cynthia (who did not speak in the joint interview because she was taking a vocal break) still have a lot to look forward to, including a 2026 Grammy nomination for their Wicked soundtrack collaboration “Defying Gravity.”
“I just can’t believe it,” Ariana exclaimed. “It’s such an honor to have this work recognized, especially a year after the first film. And it’s such an honor to be able to be a part of that moment of recognition.”
