alibaba On Thursday, it announced the price of its upcoming artificial intelligence glasses and launched a new chatbot powered by its latest AI model.
The Chinese technology giant announced that Quark AI Glasses will go on pre-sale on Alibaba’s e-commerce platform Tmall on October 24th. Advance price starts at 4,699 Chinese yuan ($659.4), but with various discounts it becomes 3,999 yuan.
Alibaba will begin shipping in December.
The Hangzhou-based company also announced AI Chat Assistant, a new chatbot mode within the existing Quark app.
The latest move is part of Alibaba’s aggressive AI push this year, as the company releases updated models and works to reinvigorate sales at its cloud computing business, which sells much of this technology to businesses.
But the glasses and chatbot products highlight Alibaba’s growing focus on consumer AI.
Alibaba shares closed up nearly 1.7% in Hong Kong, and the company’s U.S.-listed shares also rose in pre-market trading.
alibaba ai glasses
Alibaba first announced Quark AI Glasses in July. This is the first product of its kind from the Chinese giant, and the eyewear is powered by the company’s Qwen large language model and Quark AI assistant.
The glasses support features such as hands-free calling, music streaming, and real-time language translation.
Many technology companies see wearables, especially glasses, as the next frontier in computing alongside smartphones. Quark AI Glasses are Alibaba’s answer to Meta’s smart glasses, designed in collaboration with Ray-Ban.
The Chinese tech giant will also compete with Chinese consumer electronics giant Xiaomi, which launched its own AI glasses this year.
new AI assistant
Quark is Alibaba’s leading consumer AI app. Alibaba on Thursday announced a product called AI Chat Assistant, a new AI chatbot powered by the latest Qwen3 model.
The new mode allows users to switch to a chatbot-style interface and have conversations via text or voice. Alibaba said the new feature will enable “AI search and conversation” in one interface. The idea is that users can do everything they need in one application.
Alibaba says some of the features include photo editing, “photo-based problem solving” and AI lighting.
This product is Alibaba’s answer to the growing number of chatbot products, from OpenAI’s ChatGPT to DeepSeek.
