Despite Alex’s many impressive accomplishments, He previously joked that his kids might not care too much..
“They didn’t really watch it. They didn’t care,” he told E! news Early this month. “I don’t think they even know what climbing is. That’s normal. They have no idea what I do.”
Alex wants his kids to enjoy the outdoors, but he doesn’t necessarily want them to follow in his footsteps.
“I’m not going to encourage my kids to do that, but I totally understand if my kids go from hiking to easy scrambles to really easy free solos, if they feel capable and ready and can manage the risks themselves. It’s all part of the spectrum.”
“My goal as a parent is to empower my children and give them the tools to succeed,” he explained. “I want them to feel comfortable and not be afraid in the mountains, not be afraid in life, be comfortable doing whatever they want to do. So if they’re interested and drawn to it, empower them. They can make the right decisions.”
While Alex’s children may not follow in his footsteps, many other professional athletes have children who have followed in their footsteps. Read on to find out more about the kids of star athletes.
