American Idol fans turned down the lights a little earlier than usual this week.
After ABC announced it would no longer air the season of The Bachelorette starring Taylor Frankie Paul starting March 22, the network replaced the dating series with reruns of the competition show.
The Secret Life of Mormon Wives star’s wife-hunting journey was finally shelved on March 19, 2023, after a video surfaced of a physical altercation between her and then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. Shortly after, a spokesperson for Disney Entertainment, the parent company of ABC and Hulu, shared insight into the company’s determination.
“In light of the newly released video that was just released today,” a spokesperson said in a statement to E! News, “We have made the decision not to move forward with a new season of The Bachelorette at this time and are focused on supporting our family.”
As for Taylor, who has a son with Dakota and two more children with ex Tate Paul, her rep addressed the footage in a statement to E! News said the video was part of a “destructive campaign to harm Taylor” and classified the release as “a reprehensible attempt to divert attention from Dakota’s actions.”
