Microsoft launches AI and productivity software bundles for consumers

Microsoft On Wednesday, he said it would stop advertising consumer subscriptions for artificial intelligence services and introduce bundles that blend traditional productivity apps and AI features.

The software company introduced Copilot Pro for $20 a month in early 2024. The Microsoft 365 family allows up to six users and 6 terabytes of cloud storage, costing $12.99 per month. The new Microsoft 365 Premium Tier essentially combines both and costs $19.99 per month.

“Other AI tools will stop in chat. We provide more than that,” Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s consumer marketing leader, wrote in a statement provided to CNBC.

Microsoft has not cancelled Copilot Pro, a spokesperson said.

Technology companies have tried to raise widespread interest in tapping generated AI models to create documents and create videos.

Microsoft offers a free version of Copilot Assistant alongside humanity. Google Openai, all of which sells paid subscriptions to consumers.

Microsoft 365 Premium has higher usage restrictions than free co-pilot and productivity software subscriptions targeted to consumers.

Copilot Pro and Consumer Like with Microsoft 365 subscriptions, this new product allows you to have conversations with Copilot in Microsoft office apps such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Microsoft is sweetening new offers with upcoming access with access to two AI reasoning agents that are only available to corporate workers with a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.

Openai relies on Microsoft’s Azure Cloud to run the ChatGPT assistant and the underlying model, and Microsoft incorporates the model into Copilot. Microsoft has invested more than $13 billion in Openai. Companies are competing partners.

Microsoft reported an 89 million consumer subscribers for Microsoft 365 services increased by 8% in the June quarter. The increase in revenue from these products reached 20% in the June quarter, accelerating for three-quarters in a row.
