Amazon The launch event will be held on Tuesday and will announce important updates to the device lineup.
The event is scheduled to start at 10am ET and features an announcement from Panos Panay, who oversees Amazon’s vast device and services business.
An invitation sent to media and analysts earlier this month shows what appears to be an echo smart speaker, a fire TV, a ring doorbell button, and a Kindle e-reader, suggesting what is available at the event.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a Bloomberg television interview earlier this year that “brand new lineup of devices” compatible with Alexa+ will arrive this fall.
Companies’ Upgrade Assistant reviews with generative artificial intelligence are mixed.
Ohio resident and IT manager Jeff Finlay, 61, visited Alexa+ in late June after applying for the beta program in March. Finlay, who has seven echo devices at home, said he feels that Alexa+ “has aggravated some of the features I was used to using it.”
He said the weather forecast for Alexa+ doesn’t seem to be as useful as the previous iteration provided through the original Alexa assistant called Big Sky.
Wired wrote in July that the new Alexa looks more skilled and natural conversationalist. However, TechCrunch said in August that the service tends to make mistakes and has stumbled over several requests and is thought to be “like a beta product.”
Amazon usually hosts its annual device Bonanza every fall. There, they will be unveiling a flock of new hardware and software products.
The company shunned tradition in 2024, instead hosting an event last February, announcing the much-anticipated overhaul of its Alexa Digital Assistant.
Since then, Amazon has slowly rolled out early access to Alexa+. It is not available to the public yet, and users must have a new version of Amazon’s Echo Show, a voice-controlled display with a touchscreen.
The company says more than 1 million users are allowed access to Alexa+.
At Amazon’s first, the company charges users to access their digital assistants. The service costs $19.99 a month, but free for members of the $139 annual Prime Program.
Alexa has grown into a significant Amazon business, with over 600 million Alexa devices on sale worldwide. Those numbers include third-party products and Amazon-branded devices.
Amazon is facing increasing pressure to update hardware and software in the generation AI era, following the success of rivals such as Openai’s ChatGpt and Google’s Gemini. Meta also has Ray-Ban Meta Glass. This meta glasses use the Llama’s leading language model to answer questions spoken by users.
Amazon’s AI devices ambitions may not end with Alexa or Echo Smart speakers.
The company confirmed in July that it had acquired AI wearable startup bee. This created a wristband that could record and transfer conversations.
Amazon has also introduced generation AI to some of its Ring Smart Home security products.
