President Donald Trump showed at a press conference with British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer that a potential ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine could be near on Thursday.
“The situation in Russia, we hope there will be some good news for you,” Trump told Checkers, the prime minister’s weekend residence in Ailsbury, England.
“Millions of people have lost that war, millions of souls… They’ve been killed and I feel an obligation to settle that for that reason,” Trump said.
The president was speaking alongside Somer at the end of his three-day state visit to the UK.
However, in Russia and its president Vladimir Putin, the leader’s comments were somewhat less enthusiastic.
“He disappointed me. He really disappointed me,” Trump said of Putin.
Russia’s war in Ukraine has been ruthless for over three years, and the US president has so far failed to end it despite multiple attempts to negotiate.
During the 2024 presidential election, Trump claimed that he could end the conflict “one day.”
However, he admitted on Thursday that he was surprised at how difficult the war between Russia and Ukraine could be to resolve.
“We are extremely honored to tell you that we have resolved seven wars, seven wars, unsolved wars, wars that were negotiated or not committed,” he said. “I think the easiest thing I thought was because of my relationship with Putin, but he’s disappointing me.”
USA Today confirmed the claim to factually finding five ceasefires or peace agreements, but the report said that not all parties trusted the White House for supporting these resolutions.
“Special relationship”
At a wide range of press conferences, priorities welcomed what he calls the “unique bond” between the UK and the US
“We have renewed special relationships for a new era,” said Hoshi.

“The UK and the US today have a groundbreaking agreement that we attacked in May, as our first partner in defense, as our first partner in trade. And now, with the new agreement we just signed this afternoon, we are asserting our status as the first partners of science and technology ready to define this century, as we will now.”
Trump repeatedly expressed his emotions, describing the bond between the two countries as “no one else in the world.”
“We are forever involved, we will be friends forever, we will always be friends.” He quoted this “endless connection.”
Currently, with a comprehensive 10% tariff applied to British goods imported into the US, Trump has granted the UK one of the world’s most favorable tariff rates.
Business is abundant
The president’s trip also proved to be extremely profitable for the UK on Thursday. The country’s government has announced £150 billion ($20.4 billion) worth of foreign investment with major contracts across the technology, energy and AI sector.

The deal “helps employment, promotes growth and provides opportunities for those working up and down the country,” the government said.
Trump and Starmer held closed-room discussions on Thursday, moving from Windsor Castle to Checker for the final day of the president’s state visit.
The leaders and their respective delegations met business leaders on Thursday at a reception hosted by British Finance Minister Rachel Reeves.
Early in the visit, the President and First Lady Melania Trump were guests of Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, where he received the best treatment of the UK’s best pumps and pageants. American guests were welcomed with Royal Gun salutes, a carriage procession through Windsor, and a guard of honor.
At a glittering state banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday night, Trump told a swarm of guests, including senior royals, US and British officials and business leaders.
He then gave a few laughs when he joked that he wanted to become the only president who received two state visits.
