It’s trend It started in Texasat the request of President Donald Trump, they will try to maintain control of the GOP home next year. But California Democrats responded with their own maps to help their party Still, voter approval is required.

Repartitioning usually occurs Once, right after the census. However, in some states there is no ban on cycle map transformation. The U.S. Supreme Court also said there is no federal ban. Political Gerrymanderthe district is intentionally attracted to the advantages of one party.

Nationally, Democrats will need to win three seats next year to control the house. The president’s party usually loses seats in the midterm parliamentary elections.

Here’s a summary of what the state is doing.

Missouri lawmakers are holding special sessions

The special sessions that Republican Gov. Mike Kehoe calls will begin Wednesday and will be held for at least a week.

Missouri is represented by a US home by six Republicans and two Democrats.

The revised map proposed by Kehoe would give Republicans a better opportunity to win the seats held by Democrat Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver by leaning the Kansas City-based district towards rural Republicans.

Democrats were able to use the filibuster in the Senate, but Republicans were able to use procedural manipulation to shut it down and pass on a new map.

Texas Democrats left, but Republicans won

Democratic Congressman Left Texas Abandoning special sessions on rezoning by preventing the quorum required to run business for two weeks. But after that session ended, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott immediately called out another. And Democrats were pleased that they insisted and that California was moving forward with counter plans.

Republicans own 25 of Texas’ 38 seats in Congress. The revised map passed on August 23rd is intended to give Republicans a shot to win five additional seats in next year’s election. Abbott’s signature made a map final.

California Democrats are trying to fight Texas

Democrats already own 43 of California’s 52 seats in Congress. Congress passed the revised map passed on August 21, aimed at giving Democrats the opportunity to win five additional seats in the 2026 election.

Unlike Texas, California has an independent civic committee that handles post-census district changes, so any changes to the map require voter approval. Referendum It is scheduled for November 4th.

Indiana Republican meets with Trump about rezoning

Republican legislative leaders in Indiana meet and discuss with Trump personally Re-partitioning While in Washington, DC on August 26th. Some met with Vice President JD Vance.

Several Indiana lawmakers have been announced in support of changes to the central cycle map following the meeting. However, others have expressed hesitation. It remains unclear whether Indiana lawmakers will hold special sessions on the rezoning.

Republicans hold a 7-2 edge over Democrats in their Indiana Legislature delegation.

Louisiana Republicans are aiming for a special session

Louisiana State Assemblymen are told to keep the calendar open from October 23rd to November 13th. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear the October 15 debate on the challenge of state Congressional maps.

Republican Rep. Gerald “Bo” Belieu, chairing the House Committee that oversees district changes, said he believes lawmakers can return to work in case the Supreme Court passes a prompt decision.

Republicans currently own four of Louisiana’s six congressional seats.

Ohio will need to redraw the map before midway through 2026

The state constitution requires Republican-led Ohio because of the way the districts were enacted today Adopt a new house map before 2026 election. Ohio Democrats are becoming brave as Republicans try to expand their 10-5 Congress majority.

The Democrats don’t have much power to stop it. But “We fight, organize, and make a fuss at every stage of the process,” said Ohio Democratic Chairman Kathleen Clyde.

New York Democrats try to change state law

Like California, New York has an independent committee that redraws districts after every census.

State Democrats have introduced the law to allow for mid-term constituency changes, but the latest new map for the 2028 election could be implemented. That’s because the proposal requires amendments to the state constitution, a change that must pass the legislature twice and be approved by voters.

Maryland Democrats plan to deal with Texas

Democratic state Sen. Clarence Lamb announced during the 2026 session that he was introducing a Constituency Change Act for consideration. Democrat House majority leader David Moon also said he would sponsor legislation that would sponsor legislation that would cause changes in districts in Maryland. Democrats manage seven of Maryland’s eight congressional seats.

The governor of Florida has pledged to help rezone

Daniel Perez, the Speaker of the Florida Republican Congress, said his room. I’ll take up the rezone Through the special committee. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has repeatedly supported him for the nation, repeatedly supported him to take part in the fight, calling on the federal government to implement a new census count, and arguing that the Trump administration should “give” a separate Congressional seat to the state.

Of Florida’s 28 U.S. House seats, 20 are occupied by Republicans.

Kansas Republicans have not ruled out rezoning

Republican Senate Speaker Ty Masterson did not rule out attempting to redraw the state’s four Congressional districts. Congress’ GOP Supermajority could do so early next year.

The court orders Utah to redraw the district

Utah Republicans hold all four U.S. House seats in the state under a map approved by the GOP-led Congress after the 2020 census. However, the judge ruled it on August 25th. The map was illegal Because the legislature avoided an independent constituency committee established by voters to prevent districts from intentionally supporting one party.

The judge gave lawmakers the maps until September 24th.
