Who is Kaylee Hottle?
Kaley is an actress best known for playing Zia in both Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla X Kong: New Empire.
“After I saw the movie, I thought, ‘Wow, this is going to have a huge impact,'” she told WABC-TV in 2024 through an ASL interpreter. “And I was so excited. She’s a deaf girl, like so many other girls, and this journey she’s going on is going to be really amazing.”
Kayley then reflected on the importance of representation, noting that the paper comes from a family where all four generations have been deaf.
“For me, representation means showing where I come from, who I represent, and what I represent,” she continued. “Gia in the movie represents courage. And I represent the deaf community. I also represent Asian Americans. So we have everything we need. So I really value representation.”
In addition to her on-screen work and frequent appearances in competitions, Kaylee also competed in basketball, swimming, and track and field as a senior and student-athlete at the Texas School for the Deaf. (She was also named Student-Athlete of the Month during the 2024-2025 season).
“Kayley was an amazing person,” Japan’s Legend, the talent agency that represented stars of monster genre movies and TV shows that Kaley frequently tagged on social media, paid tribute on Facebook on July 21. “Beyond acting, she was a great athlete and a great scholar. She had great potential and could have been anything she set her mind to. The world would be a sadder place without her.”
