Kai Schreiber knew from an early age that he was someone who liked spicy food.
The 17-year-old model spoke about her love of fashion, which has led her to the runways of Valentino, Mugler, and Jean Paul Gaultier, as well as her desire to emulate film icons like Marilyn Monroe, explaining to Interview Magazine last year that “it probably has something to do with struggling with my gender identity from a young age.”
“I always wanted to grow up and be as beautiful, glamorous and influential as Marilyn,” said Kai, who identifies as transgender and has spent years unpacking her stuff in the kitchen as her mother, Naomi Watts, “showed me all the videos.”

“As a young trans girl, I’m always going to look up to older generations of trans people, especially in fashion,” she explained about growing even closer to her fellow runway regulars at a time when the community is “under such hostile attacks.”
But along with other high-profile people who identify as LGBTQ+, Kai noted, “It’s so great to have such a strong community of us in the fashion world,” adding, “This is really a doll takeover.”
