“I’ve never said I love you, but tonight I want to say it,” Luo wrote, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing prosecutors. “I have suppressed my feelings for you because I love you with all my heart!”
Near May 2024, Ms. Luo accused Ms. Edens of “misleading” her in order to have sex with her, and claimed that she was “mentally incompetent or mentally ill” at the time of the sexual encounter. In text messages to Edens, Luo is said to have emphasized that “there are cameras in the house” and that Edens’ “everything he does is on camera,” and that if Edens does not apologize, Luo will reveal it to the “press.”
Mr. Edens denied his claims, but a month later reached a settlement agreement with Mr. Luo, paying him an initial amount to avoid further harassment of Mr. Edens’ family, but in January 2025, Mr. Luo gave the arbitrator a list of demands, including $1.215 billion.
The filing alleged that if Ms. Edens refused to pay her, Ms. Luo would report the criminal activity to “government agencies,” among other threats.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Luo has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to stand trial later this year.
