Jerry O’Connell poses with wife Rebecca Romijn’s ex John Stamos, two years after public feud
Jerry O’Connell doesn’t stand by his birth name.
In fact, the Stand By Me alum said no one in his life, including his own family, calls him by his legal nickname.
“Well, my real name is Michael Jeremiah O’Connell,” Jerry said during a joint appearance with his mother, Linda O’Connell, on the May 8 episode of Live with Kelly & Mark. “But I was always Jerry.”
His mother agreed, revealing to hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that the 52-year-old’s “real name is Michael Jeremiah Witkowski O’Connell.”
“His grandfather is Jeremiah, and our favorite cousin is Jerry Decipio,” explained Linda, whose maiden name was Witkowski.
But she never called Jerry by his full name at home.
“No, I was always Jerry,” the Kangaroo Jack actor said. “Sometimes I look at myself and think, ‘Yeah, I’m Jerry.’ The truth is, I don’t look like Michael.”
Admittedly, Jerry was quite the prankster as a child. As Linda says, “He was very active, very energetic and was always in trouble.”
