Martin Short values his family.
The 76-year-old attended the Los Angeles premiere of his new Netflix documentary Marty: Life Is Short on May 6th. The occasion marked his first public appearance since the death of his daughter Katherine Short in February.
Martin and his late wife Nancy Dolman’s two other children, sons Oliver Short, 40, and Henry Short, 36, and their respective wives, Halen Short and Elissa Short, were also at the event.
The three men in suits were all smiles as they celebrated “Marty, Life is Short.” The film not only chronicles Marty’s decades of work in film, comedy, theater and television, but also gives fans a glimpse into his rich life outside the spotlight.
“Fatherhood is as real as his breathing,” Andrea Martin, Martin’s longtime friend, tells the camera in the documentary’s trailer.
But while Martin’s family life had been overcoming the loss of his parents when he was young and the loss of his wife Nancy in 2010 after 30 years of marriage, he was hit by another tragedy in February when his eldest son Catherine committed suicide at the age of 42.
