Kim Kardashian lights up the 2026 Met Gala in a sizzling orange dress
Kim Kardashian almost missed the Met Gala due to a wardrobe malfunction.
In fact, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, who wore a tangerine hardshell bodysuit and matching leather skirt on fashion’s biggest night on May 4, admitted she was worried about breaking Allen Jones and Whittaker Malem’s custom bib during her final fitting.
“Did I break this?” she asked anxiously after bumping into a conical fiberglass bust mold, as seen in a behind-the-scenes video for Vogue. “I It hit me very hard. ”
“If I break it or chip it,” Kim continued, “what’s going to happen here?”
After being reassured that nothing was broken, the SKIMS founder said with relief: “I wouldn’t have performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I would have had to cancel.”
Not only did Kim not have to cancel, the reality star ended up dazzling the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a look that embodies this year’s theme of “Costume Art” and the “Fashion is Art” dress code. As it turns out, the liquid metal ensemble was inspired by Jones’ Maitresse paintings and “Body Armor” sculpture series. (See more stars from the Met Gala here.)
