Three years after the professional footballer apologized amid allegations of cheating with the ‘Mayores’ hitmaker, she has opened up about how the two were able to continue their romantic relationship.
Becky, whose real name is Rebecca Marie Gomez, told Alex Cooper on the April 1 episode of Call Her Daddy that she was “trying to step away from the relationship.” “And it wasn’t just about self-preservation in a way. Obviously, I was distraught and devastated in a lot of ways, but I think it was more like removing myself from the context of somebody that I’d ever had to do something with.”
Becky revealed that embarking on a new chapter with Sebastian, 33, was emotionally challenging but ultimately rewarding, pointing out how the pair had to go through a “conscious uncoupling” in order to build a “new baseline” of trust.
“I think it was really inspiring to be like, ‘It’s never going to be the same again,'” she explained. “Like, ‘Oh, there might be something new, and it’s like, ‘Oh, I’m not the same version of myself that I was when you first met me at 19 years old. You’re not the same person that you were when I first met you (at 23 years old).'” I think you could say that’s just acquired wisdom. ”
