“We’re (in touch),” Geller said on Watch What Happens Live. “I mean, I want you to understand that Seth and I have been friends since we were 7 years old. Well, he’s older. I mean, he was like 9 years old,” she says to the camera. “Yeah, you’re right, Seth. I said, ‘You’re older.’ And I said, ‘I’ve known Michelle Trachtenberg since I was probably about five years old.’
Trachtenberg, who had already starred in 1996’s Harriet the Spy, told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017 that as a teenage girl, “of course I admired Mark Blucas, who played Angel and Buffy’s normal (non-covert ops) love interest Riley.” “And I really fell in love with seeing Drusilla[Spike’s stallion, played by Juliette Landau]on screen. She seemed otherworldly to me.”
Interestingly, as a fan she chose Buffy and Angel “like any other warm-blooded person, but as an actress working with James on set” she switched to Buffy and Spike.
There were rumors of a falling out during filming, so naturally there were whispers that Geller and Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia in Frenemies, were having problems in real life.
But like many stories of on-set feuds, and no matter what they were feeling day-to-day as 20-year-olds, nothing happened that would one day tarnish the memory of the show’s cosmic chemistry.
