Tara Woodcox explains her not-so-hygienic hack.
After her “travel hack video” went viral in November 2025, in which she suggested hotel guests use their room’s coffee maker to clean their underwear, the TikToker opened up to critics about her own experience with the controversial method.
“I’ve never actually done that, but you guys are really funny,” she said in a video shared on TikTok on Feb. 23. “The amount you’re thinking…”
In a sign of the heat the hack had generated within her own family, she said she was later interrupted by someone behind her asking, “Why did you think that?”
When Tara said, “I heard it from a friend,” the person yelled, “Your friend isn’t very smart.”
That feedback aside, Tara thanked those who took to the comments for having a “full-fledged discussion” in her defense, and further explained the origins of her post.
“Rather, I posted it to say, ‘Why not use a coffee pot?'” she said. “I heard about it from a friend of mine who is a flight attendant, and I thought, ‘Huh?’ But I’ve never been interested in Keurigs, not just because of the underwear, but because they’re dirty and no hotel cleans them.”
