Remember: this is the first time Paddington will attend an awards ceremony.
But despite this, the beloved bear showed nothing but confidence as he took to the stage at the 2026 British Academy Film and Television Arts Awards, which aired on E! This year it was hosted by Alan Cumming and presented the awards in the Children’s & Family Film category.
Wearing his signature blue toggle coat (see each star’s look here), Paddington Bear admitted he was “surprised” to be on stage as much as the audience was to see him. “I don’t usually speak in front of large crowds, more you guys.”
But he took his aunt Lucy’s advice to face his fears. Of course, he said, “unless it was a snake.” “Then you must slowly leave.”
But to his excitement, Paddington revealed that his adoptive mother, Mrs Brown, had told him that his time on stage would be a historic moment at the ceremony. “I’m the first bear ever to present an award,” he said, nodding as he munched on his favorite sweet. “And he’s also the first presenter to have marmalade poured on him at the BAFTAs. That’s a shame.”
