Ten years after the couple made headlines after a nude video with former Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche surfaced online, Dane addressed the scandal in a rare interview.
“I think a lot about the answers I gave, and looking back now, was it a mistake? Absolutely not,” she told Glamor, who previously described the incident as a mistake. “Three consenting adults, one of whom is my wife? I didn’t do anything wrong.”
He added that previous comments were “likely to refer to the drug use alluded to in the video.”
“And was it a mistake? Again, I don’t necessarily think I was breaking any laws or corrupting anyone,” the Grey’s Anatomy alum said. “The three of us were taking a bath together.”
“I have no regrets, no regrets, no apologies for my life experiences,” he concluded. “This is my life experience and I’m happy with every bit of it.”
After the tape was released in 2009, the couple was forced to file a lawsuit, which resulted in Dane and Gayheart suing Gawker Media for $1 million in copyright infringement, which they reportedly settled for more than six figures.
