Kelly Clarkson reveals why she’s leaving talk show after 7 seasons
It didn’t take long for Kelly Clarkson to decide whether to stay or go.
In fact, the decision to end the Kelly Clarkson show after seven seasons was made much easier after the death of her ex-husband and father of her children, Brandon Blackstock (who passed away in August after a battle with cancer).
“I think everyone’s timing is right,” Kelly, who shares 11-year-old River and 9-year-old Remington with Brandon, told Today in an interview on February 20. “The momentum of our family life has shifted a little bit, and now it’s shifted a little bit. I think it’s one of those things where we also start to think about how precious life is.”
Although Kelly has decided to step away from daytime television, she assured fans that she has no plans to walk away from her other projects, including her role as a judge on The Voice.
“I know everyone’s like, ‘Oh, I think she quit,'” she said. “I’m really busy. I still have other jobs and other things to do. There’s so much to do that I was like, “What should I do? It’s time to step back.”
