James Van Der Beek renews wedding vows before wife Kimberly Van Der Beek passes away
James Van Der Beek and Kimberly Van Der Beek didn’t wait for the final milestone.
On February 11, just days before his death at the age of 48, the Dawson’s Creek star and his wife of 15 years renewed their marriage vows in a bedside service at their home in Texas.
“We decided two days ago, our friend gave us a new ring, we filled our bedroom with flowers and candles, and we renewed our vows from bed,” Kimberly told People magazine in an interview published on February 17, calling the ceremony “simple, beautiful, and emotional.”
James and Kimberly, who are parents to Olivia (15), Joshua (13), Annabelle (12), Emilia (9), Gwendolyn (7) and Jeremiah (4), said the intimate ceremony was attended by family and a few close friends, with Kimberly revealing that her friend and instrumentalist Polangi concluded with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
In the photo provided to the magazine, Kimberly holds James’ hand as he rests on a pillow, pointing his matching gold band at the camera.
