In fact, Delroy told E! In an exclusive interview, Damiri, who is currently working in Europe, said she was the first in her family to learn of the exciting news.
“I was in bed,” he recalled. “The phone rang. It was my son. I picked it up and said, ‘Hi,’ and he said, ‘Dad, dad, I got it. I got it.'”
Stressing that his son was “so excited,” the 73-year-old went on to explain why it was a full-circle moment.
“It means the world because he’s seen it all,” Delroy said. “He’s seen it off the red carpet. He’s seen both sides of it. So, along with my wife, they have an inside and outside perspective on this journey. Hearing this news from my son felt completely right.”
