Anthropic's Claude Code and the growing threat to software — Replit CEO weighs in

AI coding startup Replit now allows users to create and publish mobile apps. apple The latest evolution of so-called vibecoding, devices that use only natural language prompts.

Replit’s Mobile Apps feature, introduced Thursday, allows creators and small business owners to go from idea to working app in minutes and publish it to the App Store in days, the company said in a blog post Thursday. Replit integrates this feature with Stripe, allowing users to monetize their apps.

This move is a step forward in the AI-powered coding space, giving consumers a highly accessible use case beyond big players like OpenAI. microsoft and google Currently available.

For example, if a stock trader tells an agent to “build an app that tracks the top 10 publicly traded companies by market capitalization,” Replit will generate a mobile app with a working interface and give users a way to preview and test the app.

Vibecoding is one of the most popular trends emerging from the generative AI boom, and its momentum continues to accelerate into 2026. This is largely thanks to Claude Code, a product of Anthropic that has gone viral in the tech world. In December, Anthropic announced that Claude Code reached $1 billion in annual revenue in six months.

A September funding round valued Replit at about $3 billion. The hottest company in this space is Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, which raised $2.3 billion in November at a valuation of $29.3 billion. Lavable, a leading European company, was recently valued at $6.6 billion.

As more vibe coding products come online, software stocks that have already fallen in the AI era could fall further. of iShares Enhanced Technology Software Sector ETFis important sales force, adobe and ServiceNow Among the top 10 stocks, the company has fallen 11% in the past three months as investors grew concerned about the risks posed by AI agents and coding products.

Users must submit Replit-powered apps to Apple for review before they can be published. Apple is notorious for its strict App Store guidelines and user data agreements. According to Apple, 90% of submissions are reviewed within 24 hours.

Recently, software coded by Vibe has come under fire for security flaws. A new study conducted by cybersecurity startup Tenzai found that popular AI coding agencies such as Replit and Claude Code consistently ship apps with significant vulnerabilities, including an inability to prevent cyberattacks and password brute force attacks.
