Kody Brown considers selling Coyote Pass without Meri Brown’s consent
Things got a little wild as the family was working to unload their property, Coyote Pass, in Arizona. To listen to Kody, Janelle tries to stick a metaphorical knife in Meri’s kidney, suggesting he sell her the land without her consent.
“Janelle came to me with the idea that she could force sell this,” Kody elaborated to host Sukanya Krishnan in the first part of the season-ending One on One special on January 11, “and started pressuring me.”
Indeed, as Meri was dithering over signing the paperwork, Kody said, “I’m getting frustrated just selling the property. After that, I’ll distribute the money as I see fit.”
And, he said, Janelle agreed, insisting that she felt at least she was getting her share.
“Janelle just wanted to get paid,” Kody explained. “She was worried about losing buyers. I think this property is so rare that the price won’t go down.”
However, Janelle claimed that was not the case in the actual interaction.
“All I can do is take responsibility for what I said. I can’t take responsibility for how they perceived or what they thought,” she explained. “My lawyer said, ‘Maybe you should just try to get the sale done.’ And I told Cody that I had been advised that, but I really wanted to get this done.”
