spotify Premium subscription prices are getting higher and higher.

For February billing, subscription prices will increase from $11.99 per month to $12.99 per month in the US, Estonia, and Latvia, according to a blog post on the streaming platform.

Spotify announced Thursday that users will receive an email explaining the update within the next month. The email says the prices will increase because the company “continues to provide a great experience.”

Spotify last raised its premium price for US users to $11.99 per month in June. In July 2023, the price increased to $10.99 per month.

The music streaming platform reported strong third-quarter profits in November, but guidance for fourth-quarter revenue and total premium subscriptions fell short of analysts’ expectations.

Spotify will begin a new era in 2026 without co-founder Daniel Ek at the helm.

Ek stepped down as CEO in early January, handing over the company to co-CEOs Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström. This change was announced in September.

As the streaming platform leans into artificial intelligence and expands its podcast and video capabilities, the company has faced a wave of criticism from artists who have removed songs in protest of Ek’s investment in defense technology company Hellsing.

Fader said groups such as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Deerhoof, Hotline TNT, Siu Siu and Massive Attack have all contributed music.
