Stellan Skarsgård jokes that he taught his eight children to play ‘bad father’ during Golden Globes speech
Stellan Skarsgård is feeling kind of sentimental.
On January 11, when the Sentimental Value star picked up the trophy for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, he thanked the special people who happened to help him land the role.
“My children were very educated,” Stellan, 74, quipped in her acceptance speech at an event hosted by Nikki Glaser. “I play a bad dad there, and my kids showed me what a bad dad is.”
In addition to his eight children, he is the father of Alexander Skarsgård (49), Gustav Skarsgard (45), Sam Skarsgard (43), Bill Skarsgard (35), Aja Skarsgard (33), Walter Skarsgard (30), and ex-wives Mai Skarsgard and Osian Skarsgård (16). Korbjorn Skarsgård, 13, and his wife Megan Everett also praised her longtime love for the role, which helped her prepare for the Joachim Trier film.
“I have to thank my wife, Megan Everett Skarsgard,” he said. “She was wonderful as kind of a brutal support, a tough lover, and a very educational presence.”
