Dame Helen Mirren is the 2026 Golden Globe Queen.
The Queen star was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award on Golden Eve’s Golden Eve Special, recognizing her decades-long film career, and cracked a hilarious NSFW joke about the importance of the recognition she’s received over the years from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association while accepting the trophy during the show, which aired Jan. 8 on CBS.
“This organization has always been close to my heart because it was the first organization in America to give me an award,” Helen said on stage during her speech, recalling her first Golden Globe win for her performance in 1996’s Losing Chase. “That group was quirky, but they noticed a little piece called ‘Lossing Chase’ that wasn’t very obvious and gave me a beautiful golden ball. And they followed that up with another ball, and I was the proud owner of two big balls. As you can imagine, that really helped me in my career.”
And the 80-year-old, who has been married to Taylor Hackford since 1997, admitted that her long-term success in Hollywood hasn’t been achieved entirely on her own, giving a shoutout to her co-stars including Will Smith, Ryan Reynolds, Al Pacino and Bruce Willis.
“I’ve been told that the DeMille Award is a recognition of a career, but I like to think of it as a life lived, a life survived, a life enjoyed, a life sweated, a life continued with hope,” she added.
