meta platform announced Tuesday that it is delaying the international rollout of its Ray-Ban display glasses due to inventory constraints and “unprecedented” demand in the United States.

“We have received overwhelming interest since our launch last fall, and as a result, the product waiting list extends into 2026,” Mehta said in a blog post.

Due to “limited” inventory, the company announced earlier this year that it would pause plans to launch in the UK, France, Italy and Canada and focus on orders in the US as it re-evaluated international availability.

Meta has been developing smart glasses with Ray-Ban manufacturer EssilorLuxottica since 2019, and the long-term partnership agreement was renewed in 2024.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced $799 Meta Ray-Ban display glasses in September.

The product is Meta’s first consumer artificial intelligence glasses, which allow users to watch videos and respond to messages, and are controlled through a wristband equipped with neural technology.

Essilor Luxottica said in October that its revenue increased in the third quarter thanks to the Meta partnership.

Meta is one of several technology companies entering the smart glasses market.

alphabet announced a $150 million partnership with Warby Parker in May, and ChatGPT maker OpenAI is reportedly working on developing AI glasses. apple.
