Real Madrid’s French striker Kylian Mbappé will miss this week’s Spanish Super Cup as he recovers from a knee sprain.
The Spanish giants on Tuesday did not include the French superstar’s name in their squad for the tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Mbappe was diagnosed with the problem last week and the 27-year-old was expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks.
Xabi Alonso’s side will face city rivals Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals on Thursday, while Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
The Spanish coach is under pressure after a disappointing start to the season, with his side falling four points behind champions Barça in La Liga.
Alonso told reporters last week: “I will do everything I can to get him back as soon as possible.”
He added: “We’re going to push the deadline back. It’s very much a matter of feeling. When is the earliest possible time? That’s the question. I don’t know. Super Cup? We want that.”
Mbappe equaled Cristiano Ronaldo’s club record of 59 goals in a season in Real’s 2-0 win over Sevilla in La Liga on December 20.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker’s form is in stark contrast to his strike partner Vinicius Junior, who scored 22 goals last season, but has scored just five times in all competitions this season and hasn’t found the back of the net since October.
