Before retiring earlier this year, she held positions including head of women’s soccer at the Swiss Football Association and sporting director at the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the United States.

RB Leipzig Supervisory Board Chairman Oliver Mintzlaff said in a club statement: “During our discussions, she impressed us and the committee with her combination of expertise, expertise, leadership strength and strategic thinking.”

The 59-year-old will assume the role on January 1, 2026.

Leipzig, owned by energy drink maker Red Bull, currently sit in second place in the Bundesliga, eight points behind leaders Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga will be on winter break from December 21st to January 9th.

“I’m really looking forward to this new role. I’m confident that with strong teamwork and a focus on RB Leipzig’s strengths, we can unlock our great potential,” Henni said.

“I can’t wait to start in January and get to know the club on a deeper level,” Henni said. “Together, we want to continue on our already successful path and achieve our ambitious goals.”
