Jessie J shared more details about her emotional encounter with Duchess Kate.
The “Bang Bang” singer shared what she and the Princess of Wales, who is also battling cancer, said to each other during a conversation at the Royal Variety Performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall in November.
“She just said, ‘Thank you,'” Jessie recalled in an interview with Good Morning America on Dec. 5. “She said, ‘I know you’ve been through some tough times,’ and I said, ‘I know you have too.'”
The 37-year-old, who shares son Skye, 2, with boyfriend Chanan Coleman, continued: “And I said, ‘Mother to mother, cancer survivor to cancer survivor, I just want to acknowledge that I see you and feel you. Can I give you a hug?’ She said, ‘Of course I can.’ I’m grateful that she took it for what it meant. ”
Duchess Kate, who has children Prince George (12), Princess Charlotte (10) and Prince Louis (7) with her husband Prince William, first announced her battle with cancer, which included several months of chemotherapy, in March 2024, and announced in January that she was in remission.
