Kate Hudson talks about her children’s careers

Kate Hudson wants her children to take the lead when it comes to their careers.

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star revealed what path she might take with all of her children: Ryder Robinson, 21, whom she shares with ex Chris Robinson, Bingham Bellamy, 14, who she shares with ex Matt Bellamy, and Lani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, 7, who she shares with partner Danny Fujikawa.

As Kate exclusively told E! News’ Francesca Amicel on the red carpet for the Canva world premiere of “Song Sung Blue” at AFI Fest 2025 on October 26: “They’re all musicals.”

But the 46-year-old only supports her young children picking up instruments if it’s something that truly brings them joy.

“I want them to be happy, to be happy inside and to have a good life that’s actually satisfying,” Kate said. “That’s what I want.”

And she understands that it takes trial and error for children to reach that level of “true self-ownership.” In fact, Kate said she encourages her children to “make a lot of mistakes.”

“And have fun and be rebellious,” she added of the advice she passed on. “Don’t let anyone dictate how you do your job. Being a good person is all I care about.”
