The cause of Isabel Tate’s death has been revealed.
The “9-1-1: Nashville” actress died on Oct. 19 from a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, an inherited neurological disease, talent agent Kim McCray told Entertainment Weekly. She was 23 years old.
MCray said Tate “passed away peacefully,” adding that the star’s family “requests privacy as they deal with this sudden and shocking loss.”
Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, also known as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy, causes nerve damage in the arms and legs, according to the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms such as muscle weakness and muscle atrophy usually appear during the teen years or early adulthood and can be worsened by another medical condition, such as diabetes.
Isabelle said she was diagnosed with the condition when she was 13 years old.
“Recently, my disease has really progressed and I’ve come to accept that sometimes I need to use a wheelchair to live my life to the fullest,” she wrote in a 2022 Instagram post. “This has been a difficult journey for me because it has been extremely difficult to accept help and have to surrender to the progression of this condition.”
