Good Light’s products and formulations are great, but this brand is so much more than the skin care products it sells. For many of us, it was the first queer brand we saw in stores with the slogan “Beauty Beyond Binary.” It meant something to people, and it meant something to me as a beauty editor. I started my career right after Good Light was founded. I remember being in awe of this new beauty brand that was brave and bold enough to say, “We’re for everyone, but we’re especially for people that every other brand ignores.”
Over the past year, a growing number of beauty brands have announced closures, citing lack of funding and market saturation, like Ami Cole last year. Most of these brands are indie brands loved by beauty editors and passionate fan bases. But beauty brands need more than love to survive in this market.
The Good Light story may have come to an end, but its legacy will be remembered and cherished. “We are infinitely grateful to everyone who supports our mission to explore beauty beyond dualism,” Y told E!
We asked the founder himself about the impossible task. What are the five products he recommends people stock up on? So whether you’re a die-hard fan (like me) or are just discovering the brand on a bittersweet note, keep scrolling to buy the products he recommends before they disappear from shelves in April.
